Helix vs a marketing agency.

A traditional agency is humans doing the work, billing for their hours, and rotating juniors onto accounts. Helix is AI agents doing the work under a small operator team that approves before anything ships. The output looks similar; the price + speed + consistency are not.

Who this is for

SMB founders on the line between a $4-8k/mo retainer agency and an automated team. This page is for founders who've been through agency churn and want to understand the AI-operated alternative without a sales pitch.

Side by side

Helix vs Traditional agency, feature by feature.

FeatureHelixTraditional agency
Monthly cost
From $1,500/mo for a full GTM engine.
Typical SMB agency retainer $4,000 - $8,000/mo + add-ons.
Time to first content
Audit + plan in 15 min. First content drafted in days.
Discovery + strategy decks typically 30-60 days before output.
Content volume

Voice consistency
Per-brand voice rules enforced at persistence boundary. Same voice every time.
Depends on which junior wrote it that week.
Account-rep rotation
No rotation. Same operator team across the engagement.
Common. Juniors rotate; the senior who pitched you handles other accounts.

Varies. Many agencies skip approval to save back-and-forth.
Audit + scorecard
A-F grade across 8 surfaces. Free, repeatable.

Most agencies are still SEO-only.
Revenue-share / performance options
Available where attribution is clean.
Some performance shops; most are flat retainer.

6 or 12-month commitments common at this tier.

Bottom line

Hire an agency if you want a senior strategist in the room weekly and you'll pay $4-8k/mo for it. Hire Helix if you want comparable output at $1.5-4.5k/mo with no commitment and same-day responsiveness. We're cheaper per dollar of output; the tradeoff is the strategist isn't your friend at networking events.

Questions

Quick answers

Do you have a strategist on the engagement?
Yes. Our small team includes strategy + execution. The difference is we don't bill you for their hours - we charge for the outcome.
What if I want a human to write the content?
Humans on our team review and edit every piece before approval. The first draft comes from the agent; the final piece reflects operator edits. If you want pure human-written, we're probably not the right fit.
How is this different from hiring a fractional CMO?
A fractional CMO charges $5-15k/mo and does NOT do the execution. They strategize and you hire others to ship. Helix does both, but at the SMB scale.
What about creative quality - do the posts look like AI?
You can read the blog at helix.getlatest.ai/blog. We run a hard-ban list at the persistence boundary that hard-rejects any content that uses common AI tells ("It's not X. It's Y.", "That's the X.", etc). Every persisted post passes the same chokepoint.
Can we move from agency to Helix mid-engagement?
Yes. We'll run an audit on what your current agency produced + the gaps, hand you the report. If we're a fit, we onboard while your agency winds down.
